SUPERVALU Pharmacies understands about the importance of technology that we developed, maintain and continually enhance the ARx pharmacy system internally. Our Pharmacy Systems team is comprised of both pharmacists and technicians whose sole function is to focus on new technologies and processes that allow our pharmacists to better serve their patients.

SUPERVALU Pharmacies feels so strongly about the importance of technology that we develop and maintain our ARx pharmacy system internally. Our newest, Windows-based application was designed by pharmacists for pharmacists to leverage new technologies such as:
- Color flat-panel touch screens
- Digital imaging
- Thermal printing
- Electronic signature capture
- Biometrics for authentication and security
These features, coupled with automated processes, electronic work queues and a just-in-time printing configuration, create an intuitive full featured, next-generation pharmacy application.
Other technologies utilized in our ARx pharmacy system include:
- A clinical programs feature that allows tracking of immunizations, SOAP notes and lab values within the patient profile
- A centralized patient database allowing chain-wide DUR
- Automatic faxing or e-prescribing of refill requests
- Internet access to electronic reference material to assist with patient counseling and DUR
- A perpetual inventory system to keep track of on-hand inventory
- An automatic replenishing system to reorder medications as they are dispensed
